MO Gritty

OMBC Series Opener

A gravel event covering both a 50-mile and a shorter 30-mile loop through Mohican Country. Beginning and ending at Mohican Adventures, Gritty 50/30 rolls through the hills of the Mohican Memorial State Forest, introducing riders to current and historic gravel and paved routes from the Mohican MTB 100 plus short stretches of relatively easy singletrack/doubletrack.

Cub Country BBQ will be on-site selling smoked meats with all the fix-‘ins 

All racers earn OMBC Series Points. OMBC Series points will be awarded based on overall placing in either the 50- or 30-mile races.

*There is no Tandem division in OMBC Point Series so Tandem racers will not receive series points and are not eligible for overall award but are eligible for awards within the Tandem division.


**Youth 10-11 and 12-14 are welcome to participate only if they ride with parents or guardians and with a parental or guardian signature on their race waiver. There are dangers on the road including crossing SR3 and other state routes.

Course Information

Know before you arrive

  • Course is subject to change due to trail conditions on short sections of singletrack.
  • The Outpost is no longer included so please do not trespass on private property there.
  • This course includes sections of trail located on private properties. These trails can only be ridden on race day by registered riders! Any rider caught trespassing will be banned from the event and may face trespassing charges. There are motion activated cameras installed in these sections. Please do not ruin it for everyone by trespassing.

Mohican MTB 100 directional signs will be located at each road crossing and along trail sections where needed.

Aid Station Information

Know your limits

  • There is one aid station for the 50-mile racers located at the Bridge of Dreams. It will be stocked with water, Hammer Heed, Coke, cookies, bananas, M&Ms, and pretzels or chips. Also featuring Squirt Chain Lube if needed.
  • Aid Station Cutoff: Aid Station #1 (Bridge-of-Dreams) cut off time is 1:00 p.m. Those who choose to continue riding, do so at their own risk and without aid or sweep.

Race Rules

  1. In case of an emergency, call 911.
  2. Please mount number plates to handlebars only. DO NOT trim, bend or fold number plates.
  3. Racers must wear a helmet while riding their bicycle.
  4. Racers must obey all city, county and state laws, and “Rules of the Road”. There will not be anyone stopping traffic at intersections and road crossings. All riders must watch for and yield to traffic.
  5. PAY ATTENTION: Riders are responsible for their own safety; this includes staying on the correct side of the road and being especially careful at blind corners and cresting hills.
  6. Please be courteous to all travelers, bikes, cars, trucks and buggies. This includes yielding to automobiles and allowing them to pass on long hill climbs.
  7. If you encounter horse and buggy or horseback riders on the route, please slow down, announce yourself by saying, for example, “Hi! Great day for a ride”. Always pass with care! Horses can be easily spooked and easily frightened.
  8. Private and Sponsor vehicles are not allowed to support racers.
  9. Racers may only receive hand-ups from other racers or at the lone designated aid station for Gritty 50 Milers located at the Bridge of Dreams.
  10.  Racers who exit the course must return to where they left the route and continue from there.
  11. PLEASE DO NOT LITTER. Leave no trace and pack out your wrappers, water bottles, tubes etc. Racers found littering may be disqualified.
