Battle of Barbed Wire at Great Seal State Park

Hosted by Rivers Bend Bike Shop of Chillicothe, the race will be held on private property adjoining the state park.


When: Saturday, October 7, 2017 at High NOON

Where: Google Maps Link 1796 Lick Run Road Chillicothe, Ohio

Course Description: Racers will start/finish at a private residence, head north on Lick Run Road, turn left and head up the barbed wire climb, go around bunker hill trail in a clockwise direction, descend the new switchback trail, cross Lick Run Road, climb the grouse rock trail, beginners will head straight to Annie's Trail/ sport and experts will navigate the rock garden loop before descending Annie's Trail, everyone will ride the cellar trail, at the end of the cellar trail beginners will turn left to the start/finish, sport and experts will turn right and proceed to their next lap.

Online Pre-register for All Divisions $35, Race Day registration $40

Online Pre-Register Novice Youth 12-14, 8-11 just $10, Race Day registration $15

Race Day Registration: Begins at 10am

Driving directions from the north: Take 23 south to Oh-159 Bridge Street Exit toward Chillicothe, turn left onto Hopetwon Road, turn right onto Marietta Road/Count Highway 240 (by the A-frame house) continue straight at the stop sign onto Rocky Road, turn right onto Lick Run Road.If you go up the steep hill, you have gone too far.1796 Lick Run Road will be on the right in about 2 miles.

Pro/Expert and Sport divisions will be awarded cash according to the OMBC PAYOUT SCHEDULE

Prize table awards for Novice Divisions: The top third of Novice division racers will receive prize table awards.

Race Distances:

One lap is approximately 10 miles with 1200 feet of climbing.

Novice: one lap

Sport class 2 laps

Pro/Expert 3 laps.

There are 2 major climbs, several roller coaster style drops followed immediately by a short steep climb, some areas have exposed roots, except for the rock garden trail there are not a lot of rocks on the course

Parking info: free parking will be available at the start/ finish

Bike wash, portalets and free camping will be available at the start finish

Food and Beverages:

Specialty brews will be served up by Great Lakes Brewing, official brew of the OMBC Series. Beer is free for registered racers so bring your favorite mug. No water bottles will be filled.

Dinners will be prepared fresh and available on site for a small price by the Burrito Buggy of Athens
